The Effects of Porcelain Polishing Techniques on the Color and Surface Texture of Different Porcelain Systems
نویسندگان
چکیده
The aim of this study was to compare the effects of different porcelain polishing techniques on the color change and surface roughness of feldspathic porcelains and lithium disilicate glass-ceramic system. 80 porcelain specimens were divided into two subgroups, each subgroup was divided into 4 groups of 10 specimens. Surfaces were polished with different ceramic polishers. VITA Easyshade spectrophotometer was used to measure color differences. Surface roughness was evaluated using a profilometer. The color change and surface roughness of porcelains were statistically analyzed by Two-way ANOVA followed by a Tukey HSD test (α = 05). There were relationships between the porcelain systems and polishing techniques (p < 0.01) but no significant differences between porcelain systems for surface Ra values (p > 0.05). For ∆E values, there was relationship between the porcelain systems and polishing techniques (p < 0.01) but no significant differences between porcelain systems (p > 0.05). Chairside porcelain polishing systems were not able to provide a porcelain surface as smooth as the glazed surface for the IPS empress and Ceramco 3 porcelains.

In Vitro Effects of Four Porcelain Surface Treatment Methods on Adhesion of Lactobacilli Acidophilus
Objective: Adhesion of Lactobacillus acidophilus (L. acidophilus) to dental porcelain surface may lead to gingival inflammation and secondary caries. Surface roughness is among the factors affecting this adhesion. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of four different surface treatment methods on adhesion of L. acidophilus to dental porcelain. Methods: Sixty specimens (3x10...
متن کاملAssessment of aging effects on porcelain repair systems discoloration
Introduction: The selection of porcelain is based on high biocompatibility, endurance, superficial texture and aesthetics. Nevertheless, the innate fracture charateritics of porcelain is the main cause of the intra oral fractures. Electing a suitable porcelain restorative system in terms of stability of color is important. For this reason, this study aimed to examine the color changes of common...

Background and Aim: Discoloration is a major concern with regard to the use of tooth-colored restorations. Type of restorative material and surface treatment are believed to play a role in this regard. This study sought to compare the color change of glazed and polished dental porcelain after 30 days of immersion in chlorhexidine (CHX). Materials and Methods: In this in vitro, experimental s...
متن کاملPorcelain surface roughness, color and gloss changes after orthodontic bonding.
The purpose of this study was to evaluate the alteration in surface characteristics after orthodontic debonding of two types of porcelain systems commonly used in prosthetic dentistry. For this purpose, porcelain specimens were fabricated from low-fusing (n = 20) and high-fusing (n = 20) porcelain. The baseline surface roughness, color, and gloss were evaluated using profilometry, color shade i...

OBJECTIVE The purpose of this study was to evaluate the effects of different polishing techniques on the surface roughness of dental porcelains. MATERIAL AND METHODS Fifty-five cylindirical specimens (15x2 mm) were prepared for each feldspathic (Vita VMK 95, Ceramco III) and low-fusing dental porcelain (Matchmaker). Fifty-five specimens of machinable feldspathic porcelain blocks (Vitablocs Ma...
